Synopsis: Just as the western is the American national genre and the samurai are an original Japanese contribution, the Russians (or, rather, the Soviets) imposed the ballet as their own cinematographic form. From the 1950s, and for at least thirty years, the Soviet cinema produced several masterpieces of this genre that today no longer exists and that combined the skill of the Russian dancers with a cinematographic technique specially designed to enhance it. The story of the slave Spartacus and his rebellion against Rome is the reason for this famous ballet by the composer Aram Khachaturian, taken to the cinema with a touch of Soviet glam (in the dressing room, in the blusher of Crassus, etc.) and an inexhaustible formal imagination, which includes overprints, expressive close-ups, expressionist orgies and incredible split-screen effects.

I don't know either, Luigi... This movie was part of de LGBTQI Asterisco Film Festival of Buenos Aires. I suppouse it's homoeroticism, but Kubrick's Spartacus, from 1960, has a gay scene that was banned for many years. The truth, I don't have time for viewing all the movies I post here, I have only trust in the criteria of Asterisco's people, under "Soviet Glam"...
